Santiago "Chi-Chi" Chirino

Born in Punto Fijo, Venezuela, Santiago Chirino (Chi-Chi) came over to the United States when he signed as a free agent with the Texas Rangers in 2008. After playing 4 years in the Rangers' farm system, Santiago signed with the Normal Cornbelters of the Frontier League in 2013. After 6 full seasons with the Cornbelters, he set the all-time Frontier League record for most hits (725 hits) and won the Frontier League's batting title 2 times. Chirino was also a 4-time Frontier League All-Star.

Chirino has just finished his 11th (yes, eleventh) professional season, playing in the Can-Am League with the New Jersey Jackals. This past season Chi-Chi was selected as a 2019 Can-Am League All-Star, as well as the top short stop in the league.  He also helps give hitting and fielding lessons at Fletcher's Hitting Center with fellow hitting coaches Matt Cerda and Justin Fletcher. We are lucky to have a coach who has been around baseball and played the game at a high level for 11 years.

Sit back, watch, and listen as Chirino shares some of the hitting and infield knowledge he has gained over his impressive career!
